Blissfully Yours tied for No 12 on Village Voice poll

2004 was Apitchatpong Weerasethakul's year. He won the jury prize at Cannes for his Tropical Malady. His co-directed campy comedy The Adventure of Iron Pussy wowed festival audiences. And his 2002 film, Blissfully Yours, opened in New York and gained the attention of the Village Voice, which listed it in its annual critics poll.

Overall, it tied for 12th with Pedro Almodovar's Bad Education. Pretty good company, I say.

Here's the Take 6 Top 15 films:
  1. Before Sunset
  2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
  3. Dogville
  4. Sideways
  5. Goodbye Dragon Inn
  6. Notre Musique
  7. Crimson Gold
  8. I Heart Huckabees
  9. Vera Drake
  10. Moolaadé
  11. Million Dollar Baby
  12. Bad Education
    Blissfully Yours
  13. Los Angeles Plays Itself
  14. Kill Bill Vol. 2
Of the three critics, Dennis Lim rated Blissfully the highest. He had it at No 5 on his list. J. Hoberman listed it in his runners-up. Michael Atkinson didn't mention it but had many other choices.
