The ASEAN Film Festival is going on now, until August 15 in Singapore. It's quite a lineup of films, including Citizen Dog, but more interestingly films from countries that aren't regularly heard from at film festivals, namely Myanmar (Burma) and Laos. Nine of the 10 ASEAN countries are represented -- lacking only Brunei. Wish I'd seen something about this earlier - I might have made arrangements to get there.
The films are:
- Mano Po by Joel Lamangan (Philippines)
- Singapore Dreaming by Woo Yen Yen and Colin Goh (Singapore)
- Citizen Dog by Wisit Sasanatieng (Thailand)
- Jackfruit Thorn Kiss by Nguyen Nghim Dang (Vietnam)
- Brownies by Hanung Bramantyo (Indonesia)
- Beyond the Horizon by San Shew Maung (Myanmar)
- The Lessons of Life by Anousone Sirisackda (Laos)
- Monday Morning Glory by Ming Jin Woo (Malaysia)
- Gratefulness by Tith Thearith (Cambodia)
