Ray MacDonald came out of the gates in 1997, winning back-to-back best actor prizes at the Subhanahongsa Awards, for 1997's Fun Bar Karaoke (Pen-ek Ratanaruang's first feature) and 1998's O Negative, in which he co-starred with then-teen pop singer Tata Young.
The movie roles have been fewer and further between since then. Career highlights include Fake, the 2003 romantic drama by Thanakorn Pongsuwan. He also starred in Thanakorn's karmic thriller Opapatika, last year, as well as the controversial "monks with guns" movie In the Shadow of the Naga that will probably never be put through a projector in a Thai cinema (though it is at the American Film Market).
Now Ray has signed on to the supporting cast of Dear Galileo, a GMM Tai Hub "feel good movie" by Seasons Change director Nithiwat Tharatorn, according to an item in today's Daily Xpress ("New role for Ray", Page 7, print edition).
“Even though the main story is about two girls backpacking in Europe, the other characters are fascinating,” says the actor. The film will be shot in Europe and will star Chutima Theepanat and Jarinporn Junkiet.
There's also something on Ray's IMDb page called Missing by the Pang brothers, but I can't figure out what that's all about.
