Aditya Assarat has picked up another award for his feature, Wonderful Town, from the International Federation of Film Critics at the Hong Kong International Film Festival.
A romantic drama set in post-tsunami Phuket Province, Wonderful Town has won a load of hardware -- first winning the New Currents Award last year at the Pusan International Film Festival, then the Tiger Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam and also a prize at the Deauville Asian Film Festival.

Do you know if the film act will include any kind of rating system, and an eventual lift of the censorship system? But of course, they'll forever censor anything critical of the royalties. That comment from Apichatpong about one of the person on the board teaching film making makes me sick.
ReplyDeleteLifting the censorship system and switching to ratings should have been a major component of the new law, but as passed, censorship and banning of films remain part of the formula. While the authorities have wholeheartedly taken up their censorship and banning duties, the ratings system has yet to be enacted, and I kind of wonder if it ever will.
