Jeeja gets new look, new title

Sporting a bold new look of shorter, dyed hair, Chocolate star Jeeja Yanin Vismistananda and her producers have announced that her Jeeja Project will actually be called Du Suay Doo (ดื้อ สวย ดุ), or literally "stubborn, beautiful and fierce."

The action drama with a romance angle will co-star French-Vietnamese martial artist "Kazu" Patrick Tang of the Tri-X stunt team.

It's being directed by Rashane Limtrakul, who recently did the Joop segment of 4 Romances. Prachya Pinkaew is producing.

I'm not sure what else can be gleaned from the report of the press conference by MThai.com, but there sure are a lot of photos.

“I play a stubborn young woman,” says Jeeja, who’s cropped and dyed the curly frizz she wore in Chocolate. “I’m happy about changing my hair. The new style is good for doing an action film.”

The project marks the return of Rashane Limtrakul, who directed a segment in the 4 Romances short-film collection. But his last feature was his directorial debut in 1995, Loke Thung Bai Hai Nai Khon Diaw (Romantic Blues).

Joining Jeeja on the set are familiar faces Panna Rittikrai and Weeraphol Phoomatfon, with whom she worked on Chocolate. They’re helping the young actress perfect her high-kicking moves for her character, a girl who has to fight for her love.

“We never see martial-arts films that have love as a central theme,” says Rashane. “But I firmly believe that love always comes with a fight and a fight is always involved with love.”

Jeeja’s love interest is Kazu Patrick Tang, a French-Vietnamese martial artist who’s making his debut in a starring role. He’s previously appeared in Luc Besson’s action flick Unleashed.
