The Coffin gets a Thai poster and August 21 release date

The Coffin, Ekachai Uekrongtham's pan-Asian horror thriller, will be released in Thailand on August 21. This follows its Asian premiere in South Korea, where it opens on July 10.

Starring Karen Mok and Ananda Everingham, the English-language thriller is inspired by the true Thai custom of laying in a coffin to change your bad luck.

Bit of different take on the Thai poster compared to the Korean poster, with the Korean poster going for a hair-ghost feel while the Thai poster features a suitably bloody and sombre pose for ubiquitous Bangkok-based leading man Ananda.

Andrew Li, Aki Shibuya and Thai actress Napakpapha Nakprasitte also star.

The trailer has been floating around the net for a bit, first on the official Korean website and it surfaced later on YouTube. It's pretty powerful stuff. There's some pretty imagery, but if you're the least bit claustrophobic, you probably shouldn't watch. And if you don't think you are claustrophobic, this might make you change your mind. The trailer is embedded below.

  1. As my general Thai movie viewing tends towards horror films,I'm pleased to see the new Thai poster for it. I have to say I'm looking forward to this one, although I'm pinning my hopes for a nice Korean release for the DVD.

    .....Subtitles...it's all about subtitles. Hehehehe.

  2. The Coffin is an English language film, though I suppose it's possible that the Thai theatrical and DVD releases might be dubbed.

Please, no questions or comments about where to download movies or subtitle files.

Please read the FAQ about Thai films on DVD before asking about where to find a Thai movie on DVD with English subtitles.
