Postponed from March and tentatively set to be held last week, the Subhanahongsa Awards (รางวัลภาพยนตร์แห่งชาติ สุพรรณหงส์) are now scheduled for Sunday, May 30, at Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre.
Put on by the Federation of National Film Associations of Thailand, the awards are the biggest honors given by the Thai film industry.
The leading nominee, with nods in 14 of 16 categories is Kongkiat Komesiri's Slice (Cheun), which came away with good buzz from the recent Udine Far East Film Festival. With 11 nods, another top nominee is Somkiet Vituranich's October Sonata, which also screened at Udine.
Other nominees include Pen-ek Ratanaruang's Nymph (Nang Mai), which has seven nods. It recently screened at the San Francisco International Film Festival. And with six nominations is Yongyoot Thongkongtoon's Best of Times (Kwaam Jam San Tae Rak Chan Yaao).
Check the full list of nominees at The Nation Weblog.
