October Sonata tops Starpics Awards

NGR executive producer Napat Pavaputanont na Mahasarakham's romantic drama October Sonata (Ruk Tee Ror Koi) was the top winner at the Starpics Awards, taking the honors for Best Film. Writer-director Somkiat Vituranich won best screenplay for the love triangle set in the 1970s and inspired by the novels of Sri Burapha, who wrote of class conflict and tragic romance. October Sonata also won for art direction and score.

Kongkiat Komesiri won best director for his gritty gory crime drama Slice (Cheun). The serial-killer thriller from Five Star Production also won for editing.

GTH's Bangkok Traffic (Love) Story (Rot Fai Fah Ma Ha Na Ter) won the most-popular prize and the romantic comedy's winsome leading lady Cris Horwang was named best actress. She repeated her win from the Kom Chad Luek Awards, as did the best-actor winner, Parames Nongaum, the principal from the schoolboy drugs drama Samchuk.

  • Screenplay: Somkiat Vituranich, October Sonata
  • Cinematography: Charnkit Chamnivikaipong, Nang Mai (Nymph)
  • Editing: Sunij Asavinikul, Phannipha Kabillikavanich and Muenfan Uppatham, Chuen
  • Art Direction: Saksiri Chantarangsri and Wittaya Chaimongkol, October Sonata
  • Score: Kaiwan Kulavadhanothai, October Sonata
