Although the dates were informally announced last month, now it's officially been announced in a press release.
The next edition of the Bangkok International Film Festival is set for September 24 to 30, organizers said today.
As with last year, the festival will again be supported in part by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and is organized by the Federation of National Film Associations of Thailand. The Federation President Jareuk Kaljareuk holds the title of festival director will oversee all administrative aspects of the event.
The artistic direction of the festival will again this year be the responsibility of the Thai Film Directors Association under the leadership of President Yongyoot Thongkongtoon. The programming office is managed by directors of programming Pimpaka Towira and Mai Meksawan.
The 2009 edition of the festival will have approximately 80 features with two competition sections: the Main Competition for international films by first- and second-time directors and the Southeast Asian Competition for films from Southeast Asian directors. Running concurrently with the festival will also be several seminars and workshops as well as special events.
The festival website's updated with the new dates too. They're still accepting submissions until July 31.
However, the press release makes no mention of the festival venue. So stay tuned for that little detail.
