It's one of several films opening in Thai cinemas on Tuesday. Wall-E is also opening, and I think the little Pixar robot is going to kick some serious white monkey ass. Not that I have any way of knowing, since there are no authoritative sources that report on Thai box-office figures.
Produced by Phranakorn Films, it's directed by Sakchai Sriboonnak and stars Sornram Theppitak, Odette Henriette Jacqmin and Yardtip Rajpal with support from comic actor Kotee Aramboy.
The story borrows characters from the Ramakien, Thailand's version of the Ramayana, which is usually depicted in a khon masked dance. Set in contemporary times, the singlet-wearing, leather-jeans clad hero has a tattoo that imbues him with the spirit of Hanuman. He must face his nemesis from ancient times, the Tiger God, played by Damian Mavis.
