Posters for Buppha Rahtree 3.1
The third film in Yuthlert Sippapak's Buppha Rahtree series has added a digit since I posted the teaser trailer last month, so now it's Buppha Rahtree 3.1 (English title: Rahtree Reborn).
It looks to the most murderous Buppha Rahtree film yet, with the female ghost played by Ploy Chermarn actually taking the initiative to do the killing, where in the past her deadly deeds have been out of retribution or self-defense. Her victim this time out is Mario Maurer, the actress' "brother" from Love of Siam.
I just had a gander at the new posters and stills at Deknang, and call me crazy but I think Buppha Rahtree might be informed a bit by Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, what with the barber chair, the straight razor, the slit throat and pools of blood.
If so, that's the second Thai horror film coming out this year that echoes Tim Burton's film adaptation of the musical. The upcoming Meat Grinder also plays with similar themes.
Buppha Rahtree 3.1 is due for release in cinemas on April 9.

look at the poster, it's called "Rahtree Reborn", not "Buppha Reborn"
ReplyDeleteThanks for your observation Buddude! I am wrong, so I'll correct it.
