Phantoms of Nabua installation in Columbus
Apichatpong Weerasethakul's online short Phantoms of Nabua can be experienced as an art installation at the Wexner Center at Ohio State University in Columbus.
Phantoms of Nabua is part of Apichatpong's multi-platform Primitive project.
The Columbus exhibition opened on June 1 and it's running until June 30.
Having seen the short on the Animate Projects website, I would say that it's worth experiencing in the wilds of central Ohio. It's not every day you can go to Columbus and watch a video of Thai teenagers kicking a flaming soccer ball around in the dark. If you're nearby or within a day's drive, head on over. Maybe stop to take in some of the ancient mounds and earthworks that are in the region, and interpret your own meaning of "primitive."
